Both the collector and assessor of Crawford County were at the commission meeting on July 7 to provide an update to information on tax sale issues presented by Collector Pat Schwent the previous week. Assessor Kellie Vestal was able to provide some explanation on where the confusion lies, but some further research may still need to be done to clear the issues.

Crawford County up to 20 COVID-19 cases
There have now been 20 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Crawford County. According to numbers posted on the Crawford County Health Department (CCHD) Facebook page on Thursday, July 9, of those 20 cases, there are seven active cases, 13 released from isolation, and two positive serology (antibody testing). There have been 1,624 negative results for COVID-19 tests.

As of Monday, July 6, Crawford County’s new total for positive COVID-19 cases is 18. According to numbers posted on the Crawford County Health Department (CCHD) Facebook page, there are 18 confirmed cases in the county. Of those, there are five active cases, 13 released from isolation, two positive serology (antibody testing), and 1,484 negative results.
Collector reports tax sale issues
Crawford County Collector Pat Schwent brought two concerns to the commission at their June 30 meeting—both related to the annual tax sale—and both connected to properties that have been discovered to have inaccuracies in ownership records and property descriptions.
First application for CC CARES Act funds received
The first application for CARES Act funds from the county was received last week. Crawford County Associate Commissioner and CARES Act Committee member Jared Boast updated his fellow commissioners about the committee’s work at their meeting on June 30.
