The St. James City Council has approved WM Financial Strategies to serve as advisor on a refinancing with bonds originally issued in 2012 for sewer repairs. The city is currently working with the firm in requesting a State Revolving Loan Fund application as well as working on previous refinancing of city bonds.

The St. James City Council received a budget review from City Administrator Jim Fleming on the year to date standings of the city. Due to COVID-19, the council has kept a sharp eye on this year’s budget, as reduced revenues from earlier this year have made for a tight budget and the council is hoping to make changes as needed as the year progresses.
An outbreak of COVID-19 was reported at the Missouri Veterans Home-St. James over the weekend. Jamie Melchert, communications director for the Missouri Veterans Commission stated steps are in place to keep residents and staff safe as the facility deals with the outbreak.
Payton Dodd and Bailey Wells were crowned homecoming king and queen during Friday night’s homecoming coronation. The crowning was held in front of a limited crowd at the multipurpose field prior to the football game against Hermann.
Registration and sponsors are now being accepted for the Seventh Annual Team Anita Golf Benefit. This year’s event will be held on October 10 at the Oak Meadow Country Club in Rolla and will benefit local cancer patients. Registration closes on October 5.
