Board hears update on wrestling space

    Wrestling coach Beau Moreland addressed the St. James Board of Education about building wrestling space on school property Monday night. The wrestling team has not had a permanent home for wrestling practice for several years, with the district renting space offsite to hold practices.

Elementary school is named CKH National Showcase School

    The St. James School District received word Monday morning that the Lucy Wortham James Elementary School has been named a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase School for the first time. Only a small number of schools across the country receive the honor and the elementary school joins the middle and high school recognized with the honor.

Race to End ALZ raises over $1,000

    The St. James Race to End Alzheimer’s was held on Saturday, April 6, raising over $1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Over 40 participants came out for the inaugural fundraiser, and organizer Julie Felan hopes to take the success of this event and build on it for next year.

Revival being held April 14-17 at First Assembly of God Church

    First Assembly of God, located at 300 N. Outer Road in St. James, will host a revival April 14-17, according to pastor Rev. Mick Thrasher.
    Revival meetings will begin with the regularly scheduled Sunday services at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. continuing Monday through Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.

City responds to several water main breaks

    During the last week of March, several water mains broke when pressure in the system changed during a water tower cleaning. Four major breaks were reported along State Route DD, moving down the street. The city made repairs, but will need to replace sidewalks in the area.
