St. James Caring Center receives CDBG funding for renovation

The St. James Caring Center has been awarded a $344,110 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Missouri Department of Economic Development to renovate the caring center and improve parking areas, located at 113 West Eldon Street in St. James. The renovations will allow for increased services to the community’s low income and elderly population.

School board honors retirees, students

    The St. James Board of Education met on May 16 to discuss topics pertaining to the district. During the meeting, the board,
•    Recognized faculty retiring from the district as well as students for spring sports and academic clubs.

Demo Derby coming June 15

    The St. James Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Twisted Metal Promotions, LLC, will be hosting a special Father’s Day Demolition Derby on June 15.  The event will be held at Nelson Hart Park beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Plein Air Art Show coming to St. James on Friday

    The Steelville Arts Council (STARCO) is holding its 7th Annual Plein Air event this week, with artists painting each day throughout the region and showing their works at Gallery Zeke on Main Street in Steelville. On Friday, artists will be coming to St. James to hold a “quick paint” and art show and sale in the morning, followed by the final night art show, showcasing the finalists from the event. STARCO will donate a painting from the quick paint to the Friends the of the Lucy Wortham James Memorial Public Library to be used as a fundraiser.
