The St. James Chamber of Commerce has started a fundraiser aimed at bringing a concert series to the community. Calendars for a gun raffle are on sale now and will help fund the first concert, which the Chamber is hoping to add to the annual Grape and Fall Festival.
The St. James Chamber of Commerce presented the high school Art Club with a check of $200 on Thursday to assist the club purchase materials to refurbish old Christmas lights. The club renovated six lanterns and 3 wreaths, which the city estimates are 50 years old and were found in storage. The fixtures will be placed on city buildings for the holidays.
A resolution could not be reached between cities who purchase natural gas from the MoGas pipeline and gas rates will increase in December. Cities were informed earlier this year that MoGas was going to increase the cost to transport gas between 200 and 250 percent, beginning this month, but cities have been negotiating that increase. St. James City Administrator Harold Selby said both sides are nearing an agreement, but the city will help municipal utility customers by offsetting the increase in price for the month of December.
The City of St. James is still seeking applicants for the role of City Administrator to replace retiring administrator Harold Selby. Those qualified and interested in the position have until December 17 to apply.
