Summer reading program begins at the library

    The annual summer reading program kicks off this week at the James Memorial Public Library after being mostly cancelled last year due to COVID-19 and closures of the facility. This year’s event is called “Tails and Tales” and will feature a variety of guest speakers during the shortened four-week program.

Officer shot at during Monday incident that left one dead

    A St. James Police officer was shot at while responding to a domestic disturbance on Monday, according to the St. James Police Department. In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, the department said the officer was uninjured and didn’t fire his weapon during the incident, which left one dead.

Library moving to Evergreen system

    The James Memorial Public Library (JMPL) is moving to a new online system aimed at adding more books for readers as well as making it easier for patrons to manage their accounts. JMPL is moving from Destiny to Missouri Evergreen and closed for a week in May to begin re-barcoding its collection.

Tiger Shark Waterpark set to open

    The Tiger Shark Waterpark will officially open on June 3, after being delayed a few days due to inclement weather. The facility is planning a full summer of activities and staff are training this week in preparation.
