Board of Education reorganizes

           On Wednesday, April 13, the St. James Board of Education certified the April general election results and reorganized. Incumbents Justin Lorts and Tina Spurgeon both won their races for full-term seats and Larry Rinehart ran unopposed for a one-year, partial term seat.

Council approves BuildTec to oversee bridge repairs

           The St. James City Council awarded BuildTec Construction with a contract to make repairs to bridges on Jay Street and St. John Street this summer. Both bridges have been deemed unsafe, with the St. John Street bridge being closed to traffic until repairs can be made.

BOE approves purchase for math resources

           The St. James Board of Education approved a proposal for math resources, totaling $149,026.24 to provide consistency in math content knowledge and skill development for all grades. Resources were funded through Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief (ESSER) money provided to school districts to help with COVID-19 costs and learning loss.

St. James man dies after being hit by vehicle

            A St. James man died after being struck by a vehicle on State Route DD on April 13 after walking in front of the vehicle, according to the Troop I of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
