This month’s St. James Senior Center artist being spotlighted is Rosalie Bolon. A painter of over 30 years, Bolon uses numerous mediums including pencil, pastels, watercolors, etchings, oils, and acrylics and her work focuses on predominately landscapes. Her artwork will hang in the dining hall during July.

The St. James Board of Education met on Thursday, June 27 to discuss topics pertaining to the district. During the meeting, the board,
• Heard from librarians from all three campuses, who informed the board of how their facilities were used over the past school year. Along with the usage report, librarians also outlined their goals for next year, including ways to encourage students to use the resources available.
St. James had four members and one adviser of the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda Chapter recently travel to San Antonio, Texas for the FBLA-PBL National Leadership Conference (NLC). The NLC is the pinnacle of the year, with over 14,000 attendees and 140 competitive events. Attending students had to qualify after competing at the State Leadership Conference in Springfield, Missouri in April.
The St. James City Council met on July 8 to discuss several matters pertaining to the city. During the meeting, the council:
• Heard from citizen Jackie Kaufman, who thanked the city for cutting a storm water ditch that runs near hear property. She had called the city and asked for it to be addressed and thanked the council for the quick response.
St. James City Councilman Bob Smith initiated discussion on waiving the building permit costs for the St. James School District’s ongoing construction project during Monday night’s meeting of the council. Smith had requested a resolution last year when the project was getting started, but withdrew it at the time, believing it would fail. On Monday, he wanted to broach the subject again, now that new members are on the council to hear feedback on the issue.
