City receives $25,000 grant to add bathroom at Forest City Trail

    The city of St. James has been awarded a $25,000 grant to add a new outdoor restroom at the trailhead of the Forest City Trail. The restroom will be constructed at the entrance to the trail, across from the Industrial Park.

City issues guidance on nuisance ordinances

    Fall has arrived in the area and the city of St. James is advising residents to be aware of several ordinances that may affect them. The biggest thing to be aware of is the burn ordinance, which stipulates when residents can burn and under what conditions.

Board approves graduation plan, other business

    Graduation for the 2020-21 school year has set for May 21, 2021 at 7 p.m. The St. James Board of Education agreed to again hold graduation outdoors at the football complex and has plans in place for alternate sites.

Board approves winter sports safety guidelines

    Winter sports are quickly approaching and the St. James Board of Education have approved safety guidelines for spectators. A lengthy discussion was held during an October 15 meeting of the board about what guidelines the district should follow, as winter sports are held indoors and could be more difficult to keep COVID-19 safety precautions in place.

City to receive donation for pickle ball courts

    Resident Allen Copeland informed the St. James City Council on Tuesday, October 13, he plans to donate pickle ball courts to the city. Where those courts could be located is still being discussed, but Copeland told the council there is an interest in pickle ball in St. James.
