FFA animal show and sale coming Saturday

    The St. James FFA and 4-H will hold a market animal show and sale this Saturday despite the cancellation of this year’s Grape and Fall Festival. This year’s event will be held in the Rolla Horse Auction Barn in St. James and will be a great way to support FFA and 4-H kids.

District hears update on CARES grant funds

    St. James School District Safety Director Josh Cahill outlined where the district stands on Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding and several pending requests for funding from the county on August 20. Cahill spoke to the St. James Board of Education, discussing how district has received some CARES Act funding from the state and county levels, with more expected soon to help with coronavirus relief efforts.

Jason Smith tours St. James Winery and Public House

Jason Smith, Congressman of Missouri’s 8th Congressional District, visited the St. James Winery and Public House Brewing Company on Friday, August 14 as part of his Focus on Agriculture tour. Smith met with Winery CEO Peter Hofherr and Public House co-owner Josh Stacy, who talked about how COVID-19 has affected their businesses.

Meals to be offered for students attending virtually

The St. James Schools Nutrition department will be providing meals for students attending virtually or via Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) beginning the first day of school. Families need to register for meals this week to begin receiving meals next week, when school opens for the fall semester.

Library now offering Chromebooks and hotspots

Last month, the James Memorial Library was provided $6,942 in coronavirus relief funding, which has helped the facility to purchase new Chromebooks and Wi-Fi hotspots for checkout. Funding was provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) and users of the facility will now have additional options in connecting to the internet.
