Council approved new police officer position

    The St. James City Council has voted to approve a budget amendment which will allow for the hiring of an additional police officer for the St. James Police Department. The city has seen a rise in call volume and violent cases recently and is looking to protect officers on duty by having enough coverage to assist during calls.

Two students recognized for actions during bus wreck

    Two St. James students were recognized on Friday, August 27 for their action during a bus wreck that occurred on Wednesday, August 25. Tandon Baker and Emilee Williams were presented with a proclamation from Governor Mike Parson by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol prior to Friday night’s football game.

Machinist union donates items to Veterans Home

    The community service committee of the International Association of Machinists-District 9, of St. Louis, donated items to the Missouri Veterans Home-St. James (MVH) on Tuesday, August 24. During their visit to the facility, which is still not allowing visitors inside due to COVID-19, members of the union thanked veteran residents for their service with signs and waves.

City working on stormwater project near Industrial Park

    The city of St. James began work on a major stormwater project on North Springfield Street near the Industrial Park. Several new culverts are being installed under residential driveways to aid in water travelling to the area, trying to divert it to the nearby creek.

Alley repair complete

    An alleyway located near James & Gahr Mortuary has been repaired, including a new sidewalk, paved apron, and new driveway from one side of the block to the other. The alley is one of the most used in the city.
