Representatives from Archer Elgin, Branco Enterprises, and Dake Wells Architecture appeared before the St. James Board of Education on May 19 to provide an update on recent flooding event, which occurred near the courtyard by the newly constructed Performing Arts Center.

A Trail of Tears exhibit highlighting Native Americans in Missouri during that time has been opened in St. James near the James Memorial Library in a building which used to be the offices of The James Foundation. The exhibit features maps, artifacts, videos, and other information for the public to view.
The St. James School District announced Monday it will attempt to relax its mask mandate when summer school begins in June. The district will continue its current COVID-19 rules for the remainder of the regular school year, but hopes to allow a more traditional setting for summer school.
St. James was notified last month it will receive $743,013.01 in American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding and the city is currently researching how that money could be spent. City Administrator Jim Fleming said there are several needs the city currently has and is reviewing which funds could be used to aid with costs.
