The St. James City Council is considering if Tiger Shark Waterpark can open this year. There are safety concerns the council members expressed during their meeting on Monday, May 11, but they hope to know more by the end of the month.

New rules have been approved for the St. James Cemetery after three months of discussion by the St. James City Council. The council voted Monday night on an ordinance outlining what decorations can be placed on or near headstones to allow park workers to more efficiently maintain the property.
On Monday, May 11, the St. James City Council approved a contract with Alexander Construction to build a new ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessible restroom at the James Memorial Public Library. The company will also work to fix brick columns around the exterior of the facility, while the city electric department will be working on exterior lighting around the facility.
The St. James Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applicants for the annual Grape and Fall Festival queen pageant. This year’s pageant will be held on Saturday, August 22, and the deadline to apply is June 15.
Residents of St. James celebrated the graduation class of 2020 on Saturday night by holding a cruise in at Nelson Hart Park. Parents, friends, and family members decorated their vehicles and drove through the park, honking their horns and congratulating seniors affected by the closure of schools.
