Local donors help decorate Senior Center

    Several local individuals and businesses aided the St. James Senior Center by donating interior decorations and fund to help redecorate the facility. The facility requested help in their efforts to improve the place, with local businesses answering the call and aiding in their need.

Candidate filing opens next week

    Filing for local offices opens on Tuesday, December 17 for those interested in running for office in the April 7, 2020 general election. There are seats open on the city council, St. James School Board, the Fire District Board of Directors. and Ambulance District Board of Directors. Filing will be open until January 21.

Walmart transports wreaths for Wreaths Across America

    Two tractor trailers filled with wreaths left the St. James Walmart Distribution Center #6069 on Monday morning, to be delivered to veterans cemeteries across the United States. Walmart sponsors 15,000 wreaths to be placed at National Cemeteries in support of Wreaths Across America and National Wreath Day, which will be held this Saturday.

Council approves change in insurance provider

    The St. James City Council received health insurance quotes from Sheran Ashby, of Ashby Covenant Insurance, and was presented an update by Jim Fleming about rising insurance costs. The council voted to change insurance providers to avoid a 19 percent increase that would have been leveled against them by remaining with United Health Care (UHC).
