Chamber gun raffle tickets still on sale

    Those interested in entering a gun raffle only have a short time left to enter. The St. James Chamber of Commerce will hold the raffle drawing for a Henry “Goldenboy” H004 .22 caliber long rifle on Saturday, August 29, during the FFA/4-H Livestock show and sale.

YEP donates to Sleep in Heavenly Peace

    The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) has donated $1,000 and members volunteered time building beds with the Rolla chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) on Saturday. Members helped build 20 beds to ensure local kids have a comfortable place to sleep.

City working on burn permit procedure

    The city of St. James is working on establishing a burn permit procedure after it received word the St. James Fire Protection District is not wanting to deal with permits anymore. The city is now looking to create a way for residents to apply for and receive burn permits so the city knows when a burn will take place.

City seeking solution for pop up businesses

    The city of St. James is working on how to address businesses that are popping up and selling items inside the city without a permit. While some sales, such as at the Farmers Market, are allowed, others are operating illegally and city administration is looking at how to move forward.
