Homecoming set for Friday

    John F. Hodge High School will celebrate its football homecoming this Friday, September 11, as the St. James Tigers take on Hermann. A new king and queen will be crowned prior to the home game.

FFA receives over $8,000 from rodeo

    The St. James high school FFA received over $8,000 after an FFA Rodeo was held August 14-15. The event was held at the Rolla Saddle Club and money from gate sales was presented to the FFA for its program.

Intersection project moving forward

    Work continues for the third week at the intersection of Hardy and Wishon streets, located near Prock Operations The project, which is mostly being funded through a Delta Regional Authority (DRA) grant, will expand water services, add manholes and a new fire hydrant to the system, fix water collection in the area, and realign the roads.

Ribbon cutting held for newly resurfaced tennis courts

    A ribbon cutting was held last week to officially open the newly resurfaced tennis courts in the St. James City Park. Work was done over the past two weeks to repair cracks and resurface the courts, which have been in disrepair for several years. Members of the local tennis committee, city officials, and others came out to celebrate the opening of the courts.

District discusses substitute teacher shortage, other business

    A shortage of substitute teachers was a topic of conversation by the St. James Board of Education during its meeting held on August 20. It was reported the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has changed some of the rules to become a substitute teacher so districts can meet their needs.
