City delays resurfacing of tennis courts until spring

    The city of St. James has delayed the resurfacing of the tennis courts in the city park until next spring, as it waits for information from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) about whether a grant will be awarded for the project.

Chamber seeking food vendors for Christmas parade

    The St. James Chamber of Commerce has made some slight alterations to this year’s Christmas parade schedule and route and is also seeking food vendors to offer refreshment options during the event. The Chamber also announced it has moved the start time up to 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 7.

Council hears tourism presentation

    Promoting tourism is something every city hopes to accomplish, and City Administrator Jim Fleming recently shared some information with the St. James City Council, highlighting areas of strength and weakness in St. James tourism push. During a meeting on November 12, Fleming shared two tourism surveys the city has used to gather information and areas to boost visitors coming to the area.

High school students honor veterans

    Retired United State Air Force Captain Sandi Troup was a guest speaker at a Veterans Day assembly held at St. James High School Monday morning. Students organized the ceremony, which was held in the gymnasium, to recognize and honor area veterans for their service.
