SJMS boys win tournament openers

    The St. James Middle School eighth-grade boys’ basketball team opened play in the St. Clair Tournament Monday by beating Owensville 42-29.
    Aiden Boone fired in 20 points to power the Tigers while JV Meurer added 11.

Tiger wrestlers sixth in St. Clair Classic

    The STJ Tigers wrestlers placed sixth in the 13-school field at the St. Clair Classic Saturday, Jan. 22.

Host STJ falls to Soldan in third-place game

    After being in a back-and-forth contest with top-seeded Soldan for three periods, the host St. James Tigers couldn’t keep up the scoring output in the final quarter and lost 70-59 in the third-place game of the 77th annual St. James Tournament Saturday, Jan. 22.

Smith’s dream comes true in record-setting fashion

    St. James has a long, rich basketball tradition. And being a St. James basketball playing kid, Ben Smith’s dream was always to coach his hometown Tigers.
    That dream has come true in record-setting fashion. Smith is the longest-tenured head coach in Tiger history. He is also the winningest.

Lady Tigers roar to Osage Tournament title

    The St. James girls basketball team added another tournament championship to its 2021-22 resume.
    The Lady Tigers held off a fourth-quarter comeback effort from the Eldon Lady Mustangs to cling to a 76-70 victory and claim the title of the Osage Girls Basketball Tournament Friday, Jan. 21, at School of the Osage.
