MRPC Annual Dinner planned for October 24 in Waynesville

• 13 volunteer awards to be presented to individuals from eight-county region
    Each year Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) honors residents of the Meramec Region who give to their communities by volunteering their time, talents and support. This year, 13 awards will be presented at MRPC’s 2019 Annual Dinner Oct. 24 at the Stonebrooke Center at 500 G.W. Lane St., Waynesville.

Genealogical Society to meet on Sept. 22

    The Phelps County Genealogical Society will present “How DNA Reveals Your Genetic Heritage” with guest speaker David Westenberg, Associate Professor Biological Sciences at Missouri S&T, on Sunday, September 22 at 2 p.m. at the Wellington Clubhouse located at 1200 East 10th Street (just past Rolla Nazarene Church) in Rolla.

Apply to speak at Missouri S&T’S fourth TEDx Talk in April

    Speaker applications are open for the TEDx event on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus this spring.
    Missouri S&T will host TEDxMissouriS&T on Thursday, April 23, 2020, in Leach Theatre, and its organizing committee is looking for presenters. Anyone with a topic relating to the theme “Make it happen” can apply to speak at the event. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, Oct. 31.

Free beginner’s quilt class offered by Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild

    The Piece and Plenty Quilt Guild will host their Ozark Festival of Quilted Show October 5 and 6 at the Rolla Middle School, located at 1111 Soeset Rd., Rolla, Missouri. Doors open at 9 a.m. on Saturday until 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
