Two years ago, June Kummer and her late husband, Fred S. Kummer, a 1955 Missouri University of Science and Technology graduate, made a donation that transformed Missouri S&T, the Rolla region and the state of Missouri. Their $300 million donation, received Oct. 9, 2020, and announced Oct. 12, remains the largest single gift ever to any Missouri university, public or private, and the fifth-largest gift to any public institution in the nation, according to data compiled by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
On Saturday, Maramec Spring Park will hosts its annual Old Iron Works Festival, celebrating life like it was like when the iron works were in operation in the 1800s. The event will feature craft demonstrations, displays, food, and live entertainment through the day.
Missouri University of Science and Technology is launching the Solving for Tomorrow Scholarship for Missouri students to cover all tuition and fees not covered by other scholarships and grants. The new, need-based scholarship is available for first-time freshmen enrolling at Missouri S&T in the fall of 2023.
