After having earned top placements at the State Level, 19 Bourbon High School Beta students qualified for and attended the senior National Beta Club Convention from June 16-20 in Nashville, Tenn.

Jessica Delmont was the BETA sponsor and helped chaperone the trip.

The participating students competed in various competitions throughout the five days and were able to attend a college and career fair, explore the city and visit landmarks such as the Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Shores Waterpark and the Grand Ole Opry. The event was held at the prestigious Gaylord Osprey Resort & Convention Center and this year’s theme was ‘Wired for Success.”

Rising junior Kinzey Waldron competed in the Division 1 Color Photography competition and earned third place. Upcoming senior Riley Dunphy finished in third place in the Division 2 speech contest. Each Lady Warhawk received a trophy in recognition for their efforts.

Dunphy also played an impromptu 30 minute acoustic guitar set at a local cafe before taking the stage at the convention center as a premier performer in the event’s opening ceremonies.

A number of Warhawks also competed in multiple group competitions, and Dunphy, Gabi Hunn, Makena Julius, Payton Helton, Kyler Davis, Hunter Witt, Skye Johnson, and Morgan Sanders earned fifth place, collectively for their “All Worlds a Stage” performance.

The Beta Club members finished the trip with a final lunch at Rainforest Cafe before taking the bus ride back.

In a Facebook post, Bourbon High School highlighted the trip by saying, “We are incredibly proud of all of our Beta students for representing our school with pride, dedication, and excellence throughout the National Beta Convention. Safe travels home, and congratulations on a fantastic week in Nashville!”
