4-H LEADERS HONORED

The 2025 4-H Leaders Banquet was held on Tuesday, October 7 at the Cherry Rose Hall in Cuba. The meal was catered by Frisco’s Grill & Pub. This annual event is held to honor and celebrate the efforts of 4-H volunteers in Crawford County. One hundred and eight 4-H volunteers were recognized this year.

Julianna Thrasher, 4-H Youth Development Specialist, began the evening by welcoming everyone. Noah Washburn, Former Arkansas 4-H Director and currently the Director of Strategic Partnership Development with the UM Office of Extension and Engagement, was the guest speaker. He spoke about the history of the 4-H volunteer. Marlee Jones, 4-H Council President, gave a talk about the volunteer strengths and values that will live on as their legacy with the youth of 4-H.

Ava Viehman was recognized as the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame recipient. Her daughter-in-law Caroline Viehman was present to receive the award and share a few words about the legacy Ava left behind. The impact Ava Viehman had not only on the lives of the countless youth she led in 4-H through the years, but also on Steelville as a community leader and journalist simply can’t be overstated. She helped develop local leaders that are still serving the community today.

The council officers presented the recognition pins and certificates to the 4-H volunteers in attendance. Julianna Thrasher presented the Outstanding Club Secretary Award to Jenna Butyenek of Final Drive 4-H Club; the Outstanding Club Treasurer award to Jentry Marquez of Final Drive 4-H Club; and the Outstanding 4-H Club Scrapbook award to ShowStock 4-H Club. Thrasher also recognized the 4-H Council officers: Marlee Jones, President; Benjamin Donnell, Vice-President and Treasurer; and Josie Licklider, Secretary.

The youth and leaders of Crawford County 4-H would like to give thanks to all our sponsors for their ongoing support of Crawford County 4-H youth programs. A special thank you goes to the previous Crawford County Extension Homemakers Council for their financial gift to support the 4-H Leaders Banquet.
