Amazon is planning to build an 80,000 square-foot delivery station in St. James in hopes of increasing delivery speeds in Phelps County and the surrounding areas.
“Amazon’s decision to expand here reflects the strength of our workforce, the quality of our infrastructure, and our city's position as a leader in innovation and business growth,” said Mayor Rick Krawiecki.
Once the facility opens in St. James, it is expected to create approximately 100 jobs. There are more than 9,500 people across the state employed by Amazon.
“Due to a great partnership with the city of St. James, we’re proud to create job growth and career opportunities for this dedicated workforce in the region,” said Jason Vangalis, Amazon Economic Development Manager. “Amazon continues to grow its investment in Missouri, which has been more than $7.1 billion since 2010, and this planned last-mile facility in St. James will help increase delivery speeds for our valued customers.”
Construction is slated to begin in the coming weeks. The facility has an expected 2026 opening.
This plan is part of a $4 billion investment where Amazon hopes to expand its delivery network across rural communities across America.
