It has been an honor to serve as Mayor for the last six years. I believe the job of Mayor is to provide leadership and direction for the city. Since I have been Mayor several noteworthy projects have been taken on to improve the community. Credit for these projects goes to our resourceful and dedicated employees.
The city partnered with a private group to develop a mountain bike system. This has been a great success and has attracted many visitors to Steelville.
Using largely donations, our multi-talented crew constructed a dog pound we can be proud of.
Again, we called on our multi-talented employees, and they designed and built an impressive Splash Pad at great savings over having it built by contract.
I know how important the Community Building is to the community. The building needed major renovations for quite some time. I hope you check it out and I think you will be impressed.
Keeping the lights on and the water running is one of my top priorities. During the last year, we have replaced over 1,000 feet of water line and over 3,500 feet of overhead electric power line. My goal is to replace problem areas with new materials, ensuring longevity and reducing maintenance needs.
Looking to the future, if I am re-elected, I will continue working to improve our city. I thank those who supported me in the past and I hope to be able to help the city meet the challenges of the future.

Duane DeRennaux
I am Duane DeRennaux and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Steelville. My family moved to Steelville in 1970. As a high school graduate, I made the decision to enlist in the Air Force. Later, I was employed by the United Parcel Service. My wife and I raised our family here and are now retired.
This is my second time running for the position of mayor. I previously served two terms as Alderman in Ward 2. But, now more than ever, I believe it’s time to bring about new leadership.
I am encouraged, and with your vote, I will work hard to see Steelville become a better place to live for your family, the citizens, and many tourists.
My objective is first, I would like to see the community improved upon. For example, by listening to the citizens’ and council’s decisions. Secondly, not going behind the council’s back to satisfy my own personal agenda. Third, I would welcome any ideas for investing in our town by leading the city forward.
I have seen the best years of Steelville. With your vote on Tuesday, April 7, and with the help of the city council we can set goals and invest in the betterment of our town. We can do this.
It’s time!
