Volunteer Randy Bonham has made an extraordinary contribution to the St. James Caring Center and the surrounding communities. Through his dedication, more than 8,000 books—many of which might have ended up in a landfill—have instead found new homes where they can inspire, educate, and support local readers.
Partnering with the St. James, Rolla, and Vienna libraries, the Catholic School of Vienna, St. James and Belle elementary schools and Russell House, Randy personally delivered books tailored to each organization’s needs. His efforts ensure that valuable educational materials are in the hands of those who need them most.
This is a powerful example of how sharing resources can enrich lives. Donating books to schools and community organizations strengthens literacy, nurtures a love of reading, promotes educational equity, and expands access to diverse stories—especially for students and families with limited resources. It also keeps books in circulation and out of the waste stream, turning potential landfill material into tools for learning and growth.
The St. James Caring Center is fortunate to have dedicated volunteers and staff who conduct outreach, build partnerships, and bring additional support into our community.
If you’d like to become a volunteer, contact Rita at the Caring Center 5732652047 ext. 3. for a list of current opportunities or visit 113 W. Eldon Street in St. James, Missouri.
