BOURBON – Bourbon High School boy’s basketball teams played their home opener on Nov. 25 against Valley. Both teams struggled to score and keep up with Valley’s attack as the Warhawk’s varsity team fell 73-32 and its JV team was downed 70-39.
Valley’s varsity team was dominant from the start, as they knocked down five early three-pointers to outscore Bourbon 29-10 in the first quarter. The Warhawks trailed 52-20 at halftime and scored just 12 points in the second half.
Bourbon was led by Owen Miller who scored nine points on three baskets and three free throws. Dawson King, who poured in 14 points in the Warhawk’s season opener, made one three-pointer and was held to five total points. Joseph Woods and Bryar Stricklan scored four points apiece, Tariq Moore added three and Garrett Wallis, Andre Nixon and Allan Studeny each scored two. Valley was led by their big three of Noah Abney, Ryder Yount and Keller Loughary who scored 20, 15 and 13 points, respectively.
The Warhawks competed in the 36th Annual Valley Tournament in Caledonia beginning on Dec. 1, which will be detailed in next week’s edition.
Bourbon will then have road games against Richland on Dec. 9, Chamois on Dec. 12 and Newburg on Dec. 16 before playing their next home game on Dec. 17 against New Haven.
