Bourbon High School’s track and field team traveled to Lutheran North High School on May 9 in St. Louis to compete in the Class 2 District 2 meet with hopes of keeping their seasons alive by advancing to sectionals.
Unfortunately for Bourbon, their season would end following the meet after not having an athlete finish in the top-four in their respective competitions.
Jaelynne Rohrer and Hayden Terry were the only Lady Warhawks who competed in districts. Rohrer competed in the long jump and triple jump events, earning 14th place in the triple jump and ninth place in the long jump with 3.58 meter and 7.36 meter leaps, respectively.
Terry participated in the shot put competition, taking 10th place after heaving it 8.3 meters.
Sophomore standout Reese Bell, who earned a pair of third-place finishes during the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) meet in Cuba a week prior, didn’t compete in districts.
Cain Brenk, Drawe Froning, Dustin Brown and Jonathan Poole competed in a variety of events on the boys side. Brenk ran the 100 meter dash in 12.64 seconds to take 13th place and Froning ran the 1600 meter race in 5:51.22 to earn 10th place.
Brown competed in the discus and shot put competitions, earning 15th in the shot put and 16th in the discus with 24.52 meter and 9.21 meter tosses, respectively. Poole earned 20th place in the discus competition after throwing it 17.7 meters.
