Only two local entities have had candidates file for open seats in the April 7, 2026, election.
There are four seats open on the Cuba Board of Aldermen, including the mayor, Alderman Ward 1, Alderman Ward 2, Alderman Ward 3, the city collector and Cuba city marshal.
Current Mayor Kevin Copling is at the end of his two-year term and has filed to retain his seat. Other incumbents who have filed include City Collector Kim Roedemeier and City Marshal Doug Shelton.
Incumbent Ward 3 Alderman Joyce Hartzell declared her intentions to retain her seat. Chris Newcome and Ciara Kitchen have declared their candidacy to run against her. Ward 1 and Ward 2 do not yet have declared candidates.
The 911 Emergency Services Board has three running for election, one candidate for each seat. For District One, Thomas Mounce is running for re-election. District two has two seats open. William Harlan is running for re-election to the four-year term seat, and Christina Barton is filing for re-election to the one-year term seat.
Cuba Fire District, Crawford County R-2 School District and North Crawford County Ambulance Board of Directors have seats open, but no one has filed for candidacy.
Cuba Fire District has one seat up for election on its Board of Directors.
Crawford County R-2 School District has three open seats on the Board of Education.
Two Board of Directors seats are open on the North Crawford County Ambulance Board of Directors.
Unable to contact the Village of Leasburg or the Village of St. Cloud, but both have seats open on their Board of Trustees.
Village of Leasburg Board of Trustees has three, two-year term seats open.
Village of St. Cloud has two, two-year term seats open.
Filings must be submitted before Dec. 30 at 5 p.m. for most entities to declare candidacy. Make sure to confirm with the local entity before filing.
