Steelville High School’s cross country meets ran in a pair of meets on Oct. 13 and Oct. 19 in Owensville and in Cuba. The Cardinals competed in Oct. 13 Owensville Invitational and in the Cuba Invitational and Gasconade Valley Conference Meet in Hood Park Oct. 19, which will be detailed in next week’s edition. Steelville was also originally scheduled to run in the Oct. 17 Farmington Invitational, but didn’t compete in the meet.

The Cardinals will then have nearly two weeks off before spending their Halloween running in the Oct. 31 Class 2 District 3 Tournament in Owensville. Steelville’s runners will hope to advance to the Nov. 6 and 7 Class 2 State Cross Country Meet in Columbia with a top-30 finish in Districts.

Freshman Wyntr Yates took 26th with a 24:41.86 finish and Stormee Yates placed 83rd with a 33:20.86 time to round out the Lady Cardinals’ results.

Without senior Owen Rutledge due to an injury, freshman Andrew Jensen has emerged as Steelville’s next best runner. Jensen completed the race in 19:26.50 to earn 22nd place.

Fellow freshman Brantley Booker took 26th place with a 19:56.03 time.

Sophomores Lucas Garms and Kaden Rulo finished in 55th and 56th place after running 21:46.75 and 21:51.04 times, respectively.
