Following a solid second place finish in their first Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) meet on April 6 in Belle, Steelville High School’s golf team traveled to Viburnum on April 14 to play 18 holes of golf against conference foes Belle, Bourbon, Cuba and Viburnum.
Belle earned first place as a team and had the top-four individual performances. Steelville finished in second place and Cuba took third. Belle sophomore Kelhen Struemph shot a 77 to win the individual portion of the meet.
Steelville seniors Flint Harmon, Nick Hoff and Wesley Keymann, junior Joe Brand and sophomore Jarrett West all competed in the event.
Hoff was the Cardinals top finisher, earning sixth place after shooting a 90. Keymann shot a 94, earning him a ninth place tie with Viburnum senior Austin Turnbough. West finished in 11th after shooting a 96, Brand took 12th with a 105 and Harmon earned 13th place after shooting a 116.
The Cardinals are scheduled to compete on April 20 in the Lesterville/Viburnum Tri Tournament in Viburnum before playing on April 22 and April 29 in Dixon.
