In its ongoing effort to improve library services for the people of Crawford County, on February 9, in Executive Session, the CCLD Board of Trustees voted in favor of a motion to place an offer on property located at 515 Elm Street in Bourbon, subject to an appraisal equal to or greater than the sale price of $225,000. The property’s appraisal valued it at $230,000.
The Bourbon branch currently has the smallest footprint of the three branches in the Crawford County Library District, lacking the space to offer more resources and services to our patrons.
When the Crawford County Library District was established in 2018, part of its founding board’s strategic plan was to explore approaches for improving library hours, facilities and services, including establishing countywide facility standards to create a welcoming and inclusive space in each community. The current strategic plan continues this ambition, including appropriately allocating space to meet our goals and objectives, and to increase our usable space. This real estate purchase helps us move forward in achieving these goals.
This purchase confirms the mission of the Crawford County Library District: To strengthen and support the education, enjoyment, and lifelong learning skills of our communities by working to provide equal, free access to information, ideas, and knowledge through books, programs, and other resources.
Closing Date is currently scheduled for May 29, 2026.
