Charles Gordon Younce Sr. of Cape Girardeau, Missouri was born on Nov. 17, 1947 to Charles Richard and Genevieve Dailey Younce and passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the age of 78 years.
He was a graduate of Dahlgren High School and attended Automotive Collision Technician College focusing on auto body and collision repair.
On August 26, 1968 he married Darlene Mae Callahan Younce in Cherryville, Missouri.
Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a radio relay man and rose to the rank of Sargeant. Before being drafted into the Army, Charles worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft.
When he returned home, he was the collision body repairman for Cape GMC-Pontiac, the body shop manager for Ford Groves, Coad Chevrolet and lastly, he retired from Kagmo Electrical.
He was of the Christian faith and was a member of LaCroix Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Genevieve Younce; wife, Darlene; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Younce; brother-in-law, David Cox; brother-in-law, Richard Callahan; and niece, Christie Callahan Smith.
He is survived by three sons, Benny Younce of Jackson, Missouri, Charles Gordon Younce Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Bobby and Mollie Younce of Jackson, Missouri; six grandchildren, Brittany Younce, Khloe Younce, Hunter Younce, Landon Younce, Sawyer Younce, and Greer Younce; sister, Phyllis Cox of Anaheim, California; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law, Barb (Larry) Elder of Cedar Hill, Missouri, Ruby (Lawrence) of Cuba, Missouri and Shirley Callahan of Cherryville, Missouri; nieces, Kelley (Brian) Hodges and Angie (Shawn) Triplett; and nephew, Matt Elder.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, Missouri.
Visitation was also held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Harrison Brown officiating.
Special music of “Forever and Ever, Amen” and “A Love without End, Amen” was sung and played on guitar by Brian Hodges. Other music of “Amazing Grace” was sung and played by Bob and Carol Coleman.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville, Missouri with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army.
Casketbearers were Benny Younce, Charles Gordon Younce Jr., Bobby Younce, Hunter Younce, Landon Younce, Kent Grayum and Brittany Younce.
