Charles Lee Dodson Sr. of St. James, Missouri was born May 22, 1936 in Bonne Terre, Missouri to Lawrence & Emma Dodson and passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the age of 90 years.
He married Mary on April 17, 1959.
Charles was a jack of all trades. He tore down houses for extra money by selling the lumber, bricks and other items. He also cut firewood to help keep his family warm.
He was a great shot with firearms, whether a pistol, rifle or shot gun.
He also loved to fish, especially hand-fish or noodling. He liked to gig frogs and loved eating a good frog leg dinner. He enjoyed having his birthday celebration at Country Bob’s in St. Jamess. He loved Travis’ country fried steak.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dodson; parents, Lawrence and Emma Dodson; brother, Harold Dodson Sr.; sister, Gladine Martin; nieces, Pamela Dodson and Paula Martin; and nephew, Larry Dodson.
He is survived by his children, Leanna Williams (Dean) of Rolla, Missouri and Charles Lee Dodson Jr. of Rolla Missouri; grandchildren, Adam Davis (Leota) of Rolla, Missouri, Seth Davis and significant other Stephanie Bundy of St. James, Missouri and Brittany Dodson; nephews, Steve Martin, Denny Martin and Harold Dodson Jr.; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at James & Gahr Mortuary in Rolla, Missouri.
Interment in Flat Grove Cemetery in Rolla, Missouri with pallbearers Harold “Butch” Dodson Jr., Steve Martin, Dennis Martin, Caleb Ayers, D. J. Skaggs and Eddie Skaggs. Honorary pallbearers were Verona Skaggs (aka Watergirl), L. J. O’Keefe, Baillie Bundy, Phoenix Malichi Davis and Isiah Williams.
