Clarabell Lucille Mercer of Bourbon, Missouri was born on Dec. 4, 1942, in Bourbon, Missouri to Clarence and Phelma (Jones) Missey and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025 at the age of 83 years.
She married Russell Mercer on March 18, 1963. They later divorced.
Clarabell worked at Meramec Nursing Home and Life Care Center of Sullivan until her health no longer allowed.
She loved the Lord and read her Bible often.
She enjoyed flowers and hummingbirds, painting, music, and singing, with a special fondness for Hank Williams Sr. She loved gospel music, especially “I’ll Fly Away” and “I Saw the Light.” Clarabell was a good cook and baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Phelma (Jones) Missey; three brothers, Dean Jones, Ralph Missey, Clyde Missey; one sister, Lillie Jo Missey; and the father of her children, Russell Mercer.
Clarabell is survived by her children, Russell Mercer of St. Roberts, Missouri, Vickie LaRue and husband Bruce of St. James, Missouri, Amanda Mercer of Rolla, Missouri and Richard Mercer of St. Roberts, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Jody Hollingshead, Daniel Hollingshead, Heather Dudenhoeffer, Jessica Yates, Bryan Mercer, Cindy Chepley, Cheyenne Protte, Montana Wright, Jennea Hicks, Tabitha Mercer and Kimberly Walton; great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; siblings, Clarence Albert “Sonny” Missey Jr. and wife Karen of Potosi, Missouri and Royce Missey and wife Ruth of Leasburg, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
