Sheriff Darin Layman announced during the Crawford County Commission meeting on Sept. 22 that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $29,069.76 from the Missouri Blue Shield grant, which is less than last year because more agencies applied this year.
This grant provides funding to purchase equipment, training and technology for law enforcement agencies.
District 1 Associate Commissioner Mark Pfeiffer reported that the John Coleman Road bridge project is still on hold as they are waiting for easement approval from the railroad.
The Arlie Barr and Sig Bass Roads low water crossing projects are estimated to be reopened by Oct. 2. The Whilhite and Keysville Road projects are expected to start the first or second week of October.
In other business, County Clerk Kim Gibbs made some election announcements. Absentee voting started on Sept. 22, and the last day to register to vote for the Nov. 3 general election is Oct. 7. No-excuse in-person voting will start on Oct. 20, and Oct. 21 is the last day to request an absentee ballot by mail.
