Crawford County Commissioners held a short meeting on Jan. 27, where they discussed the roads and an addition that needed to be made to the Feb. 3 meeting agenda.
Associate Commissioner of District 1 Mark Pfeiffer acknowledged Road District 2 for servicing District One’s roads, as the Butts Road bridge is closed for replacement.
“They actually went around and serviced some of our roads on that side of the bridge; we would have to drive all the way around,” Pfeiffer said.
Associate Commissioner of District 2, Jared Boast, provided a summary of the accomplishments of Road District Two.
“We started about daylight Sunday morning, and worked till just right at dark, went back, did the same thing yesterday,” Boast said. “Do the same thing today. We’ve been over everything at least one time.”
Pfeiffer mentioned that they needed to hit a few more roads still, but they would be done by the end of the day. Over the next couple of days, they will continue going over the roads again. The largest problem they faced, which Boast had talked about before the meeting started, was the refreeze.
“You know, we’ve had a couple of trucks in the ditch already,” Pfeiffer said. “I guess that little thin sheet of ice that is underneath that snow that caught us off guard.”
Boast had a clarification with the road crews.
“When I was talking about my boys was out all night, that’s not the road district, that’s my private company,” Boast said. “So our road district crew worked the daylight hours. Sunday and Monday, and obviously today.”
In other business, Danny Brown, Crawford County road consultant and bridge engineer, will be added to the Feb. 3 agenda to discuss bridge updates.
