CUBA – Filings closed on Dec. 30 for the April 7, 2026, board elections in Crawford County and Cuba.
Crawford County 911 Emergency Services Board of Directors has three seats open. Incumbents Thomas Mounce, William Harlan and Christina Barton filed, so they will retain their seats this upcoming April without being placed on the ballot. Both Mounce and Harlan have a four-year term, and Barton’s seat has a one-year term.
North Crawford County Ambulance District has two seats open. Ben Lunyou will be running for District 1—city of Cuba. District 4, city of Bourbon, also has one candidate running: incumbent and Board of Directors Vice President Mike Delashmit.
Cuba mayor and the Board of Aldermen have many seats open. For mayor, incumbent Kevin Copling and Pitts Lesene are running for the two-year term. Alderman Ward 1, the two-year term seat, has two candidates running: incumbent Harold Halbert and Louis Alan Raineri. Incumbent Ray Mortimeyer and Dan Edison have filed for the Alderman Ward 1, one-year term seat. The two-year term seat for Alderman Ward 2 has two candidates who filed: Jeremy Rosemann and incumbent Richard Hewkin. Chris Newcom, incumbent Joyce Hartzell and Ciara Kitchen filed for the two-year term Alderman Ward 3 seat. Police Chief Doug Shelton and City Collector Kim Reodemeier have also filed for their respective positions.
Crawford County R-2 Board of Education has three seats, each with a three-year term, open. Three candidates have filed, equal to the number of seats available, and will take their seats in April without being put on a ballot: incumbent Jennifer Moreland, Renee White and incumbent Tammi Palmer.
Carl Lange is the only candidate who filed for the six-year term seat on the Cuba Fire Protection District Board of Directors.
Village of Leasburg and Village of St. Cloud couldn’t be contacted.
Village of Leasburg has three seats open with two-year terms on its Board of Trustees.
Village of St. Cloud has two seats open, each with a two-year term.
