April brings new events to the Crawford County Library District. To register for events, call or send a message to the library.
Children’s Programs
Each library holds its own story time each week with Bourbon at 11 a.m. on Mondays, Cuba at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Steelville at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Steelville’s first story time theme is “Time For Bed.” This is the last March theme for Bourbon and Cuba. The shared themes for the rest of the month are “Stop & Go,” “Rain or Shine,” “Wiggly Worms and Tacos.”
Kids Klub will be at the Steelville branch at 2 p.m. on April 2 with the theme “Soil as a Filter.” Kids will learn how soil works as a filter with pollution through an experiment. They will be at the Bourbon branch at 9:30 a.m. on April 20 for Wild about Retiles where the Conservation Department will talk about reptiles with some live examples.
With a limit of 12 people, children ages 12-18 can join Kid & Teen Beginner Crochet at 6 p.m. on April 21 at the Cuba branch.
The Girl Scouts will be visiting the Bourbon and Cuba branch in April. They will be in Bourbon at 6:30 p.m. on April 9, and in Cuba at 6:30 p.m. on April 14 to discuss joining their Daisy troop.
Adult Programs
Tabletop Roleplaying Games is hosted every Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., at the Steelville branch hosts.
Steelville is offering Yoga Night with Moon Rise Yoga at 5:30 p.m. on April 3 with a 14-person limit.
Starting at 6 p.m. on April 7, the Cuba branch is hosting Flower Pressing. The Conservation Department will be there to show the best techniques for flower pressing. Register before the 15 open sports fill up.
Starting at 1 p.m. on April 9, Cuba will have its monthly Shelf Indulgence Book Club meeting.
Charcuterie Night will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 13 at the Bourbon branch. There is a limit of 10 people who can register to make a charcuterie board.
Starting at 6 p.m. on April 16, the Bourbon branch will have its Bookish Brunch Book Club meeting.
The Bourbon branch is putting on their dancing shoes at 5:30 p.m. on April 17 to learn some Beginner Line Dancing. No prior experience is necessary, and the event will be led by Legacy Dance Club. There is a 20-person limit, so register before spots fill up.
Senior Crafternoon is held from 2 to 3 p.m. on every third Tuesday (April 21) of the month at the Cuba branch.
Starting at 2:30 p.m. on April 23, Steelville has its Book Lovers Book Club meeting.
Adult Beginner Crochet Class is in Steelville at 5:30 p.m. on April 23, with only 14 spots open.
From 1-2 p.m. on the last Friday of the month (April 24), the Bourbon branch has its Culinary Cooks Club, where participants exchange recipes and dishes based on that month’s theme. April’s theme is casseroles.
Visit the Bourbon branch at 5:30 p.m. on April 27 for its Wild Edible Plants event to learn about foraging for edible plants when out and about or in the backyard.
The Cuba branch is hosting Decoupage Flower Pots at 6 p.m. on April 28, where participants can decoupage flower pots using books and scrapbook paper. Only 12 spots are available.
Learn the Gardening Basics at 5:30 p.m. on April 30 from the MU Extension at the Steelville branch. They will discuss ways to maximize the garden and how to best grow and cultivate plants. Limited to the first 20 people to sign up.
Outreach
Bourbon will have outreach at Yahweh Academy at 1:30 p.m. on April 1, and at 10 a.m. on April 8 and April 22 at the Pasch Daycare.
Outreach, starting at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on April 3, will be at Steelville Preschool.
Cuba has outreach at 9 and 9:30 a.m. on April 10 at the All Aboard Learning Center, and at 9 a.m. on April 14 and April 28 at Cuba Headstart.
