Crawford County Library District has a variety of fun events coming up in the month of February. There is something for all ages: for more information on the events or to sign up, call the branch that is hosting the event.
Children’s programs
Children’s storytime is a weekly event in the Crawford County Library District. Bourbon Library hosts the event at 11 a.m. on Mondays; the Cuba branch hosts the event at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays in Cuba; and at 12:30 p.m. on Thursdays in Steelville.
Groundhog Day will be celebrated at Steelville at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 for the public to attend.
Valentine’s Day will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Feb. 9 in Bourbon; 11 a.m. on Feb. 10 in Cuba; and at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 in Steelville.
There will be rock, paper, scissors for children’s story time at 11 a.m. on Feb. 17 in Cuba and at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 in Steelville.
An Invisible Ink event will take place at 10 a.m. on Feb. 17 in Cuba during Kids Klub. Kids will get the chance to make secret messages with do-it-yourself invisible ink. Call to sign up, as there is a limit of 20 kids.
Let’s Bake will be at 11 a.m. on Feb. 23 in Bourbon; at 11 a.m. on Feb. 24 in Cuba; and at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 for Steelville.
Outreach dates
In Bourbon, there will be an outreach event at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 at Yahweh Academy, and at 10 a.m. on both Feb. 11 and Feb. 25 at Pasch Daycare.
In Cuba, there will be an outreach event at 9 a.m. on both Feb. 10 and Feb. 24 at Cuba Headstart and at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 13 at All Aboard Learning Center.
In Steelville, there will be an outreach event at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Steelville Pre-K, and at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 12 at Community Child Care Center.
Adult programs
In Steelville, there are tabletop role-playing games from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Steelville Library.
At 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 at the Steelville Branch, there will be a History of Chocolate and Candy Making in Missouri night where Suzanne Corbett will talk about how both sweets have been produced in Missouri over the years — samples will be included.
At 1 p.m. on Feb. 12, the Cuba branch will be hosting the Kozy Killers Book Club. Same day, at 5:30 p.m., Steelville will have a Valentine’s Paint and Sip where participants can sip on pink lemonade and paint with loved ones. It is led by the Art Mill Collective and has a limit of 14, so call to register beforehand.
From 2-3 p.m. on every third Tuesday of the month (Feb. 17), the Cuba branch holds Senior Crafternoon. Participants must call beforehand to sign up.
At 6 p.m. on Feb. 19, Bourbon has the Bookish Brunch Book Club.
At 5:30 on Feb. 20, Bourbon Library will be hosting Beating the Winter Blahs, where participants can call to register to hear Maria Calvery with the Missouri University Extension talk about how to beat the winter ‘blahs.’
Make and take Chocolate will be at 5:30 on Feb. 23 at the Bourbon Library for the first 30 people to sign up. This event will include an evening of making Wanderlust Chocolate.
For craft lovers, at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24, the Cuba Library branch is teaching the techniques and basics of crochet to the first 12 to sign up.
Book Lovers Book Club will be at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Steelville Branch.
Bourbon has the Culinary Cooks Club at 1 p.m. on Feb. 27, which is a monthly recipe and dish exchange. The theme for February is desserts — don’t forget to sign up.
