Despite the rain washing away a pair of meets, Cuba and Bourbon’s golf teams were able to showcase their talents on the course on April 22 in the Viburnum Tri Tournament. Cuba won first place in the meet, Bourbon took second and Viburnum finished in third.

Bourbon’s Emmett Jones shot a 44 to earn first place as the top-individual performer. Cuba’s Kye Williams and Cole Keleman took second and third places after shooting a 45 and 57, respectively. Lady Wildcat Jodie Keleman shot a 53 and earned fifth place.

Dawson King shot a 60, Garrett Wallis a 63, Trevor Robertson a 66 and Ian Mueller shot a 72 to round out the rest of Bourbon’s performances.

Cuba’s junior varsity tournament and varsity quad tournament scheduled for April 27 was rained out and not rescheduled.

Junior Varsity Scramble in St. Clair

On April 29, the Wildcats competed in a junior varsity two-person scramble tournament in St. Clair. Williams and Cole Kelemen finished in first place after combining to shoot a 70.

Other Cuba pairs were Makayla Wells and Traelynn Cunningham and Payton Rhoades and Addison McGinnis.

The Wildcats and Warhawks were scheduled to compete next May 4 in a Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) meet beginning at Holiday Ranch Golf Course, which will be detailed in next week’s edition.

Both teams will then travel to Farmington on May 8 to compete in the Class 3 District 1 Tournament at Bogey Creek Golf Course. If any Warhawks or Wildcats qualify, they will travel to Sedalia on May 18 and 19 to play in the Class 3 State Tournament at Sedalia Country Club.
