Members of the Cuba FFA have been going to the elementary and teaching third graders. They teach them things such as how plants grow and farmers' role in their everyday life. With the help of the Ag Ed on the Move program members provide the students with exciting activities. The latest activity was making corn plastic. This is a 10-week program sponsored by many different organizations allowing students of a non-agricultural background to learn more.
The Cuba FFA Chapter also attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, bringing a group of 17 students to represent the chapter. Throughout the trip, members participated in a variety of leadership workshops, motivational sessions and bonding activities. The days started early and ended late, filled with opportunities to meet FFA members from across the country, explore agricultural careers and celebrate the accomplishments of chapters nationwide. Between the sessions, tours and shared experiences, members built lasting memories and friendships while proudly representing the Cuba FFA. The trip was both educational and inspiring leaving everyone motivated to bring fresh ideas and energy back home to the chapter. Cuba FFA also had the opportunity to see Cuba alumni receive their American Degree at the National Level.
The Cuba FFA had a strong showing this year, with seven members competing in Area speeches and four advancing on to Districts. At Districts, four speakers represented the Chapter with pride and excellence: Sam Hutson earned fourth place in Missouri Pet Breeder, Claire Fancher placed third in MQHA, Jerzey Bright took second in Forest Products and Payton Rhoades brought home first place in Missouri Cooperatives. Rhoades will advance and represent the Cuba FFA at state competition. Each member's hard work and dedication helped showcase the strength and talent of Cuba FFA.
