The board of education voted April 16 to amend the 2025-36 school calendar, changing May 22 to May 20 for the last day. Students and faculty will now have an extended Labor Day weekend and, for those going on a trip, the possibility of avoiding traffic associated with the holiday weekend that symbolizes the unofficial start to summer.
Graduation will take place on May 16 for Cuba’s seniors. Summer classes will be held June 2 to 26.
Also during the meeting, the board approved certification of local results of the April 7 elections and swore in the three incumbents: Jennifer Moreland, Tammi Palmer and Board Secretary Angela Jenkins, along with newly elected member Renee White. Cheri Schuette retired as a member of the school board after 21 years of dedication to the position.
