An arrest warrant listing four felony counts for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor was issued on Oct. 17 for a Cuba woman. She was apprehended on Oct. 20 by law enforcement.
Amanda Mitchell, 37, has been charged with crimes with a person less than age 14 that involve two counts of first-degree child molestation and two counts of statutory sodomy. The charges for statutory sodomy allegedly occurred between March 2016 and March 2017, per court records. The alleged timeframe of March 2016 to March 2018 are for the child molestation charges. The statutory sodomy charges are listed as a class U felony, meaning it does not fit under the typical hierarchy of felony charges with time limits.
The child molestation charges are class B felonies and carry a jail term of five to 15 years each. Mitchell would also be required to register as a lifetime sex offender. Upcoming court dates for Mitchell in Franklin County are Nov. 13, for a pre-trial conference or deposition hearing, and Nov.20, for a preliminary hearing.
Mitchell is ineligible for bond due to the seriousness of the charges. Judge Matthew William Houston is presiding over the case in the Franklin County.
