Darlene Sue Immekus of Sullivan, Missouri was born on February 3, 1952 in Sullivan, Missouri to Elmer and Frances Voss and passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the age of 74 years.
She attended Holy Martyrs School and later Sullivan High School, where she graduated in 1970.
On February 27, 1971, Darlene married Dennis Immekus.
Darlene and Dennis lived in Sullivan before later moving to the Japan area.
She worked at the Holiday Inn in Sullivan, cooked at Kovack’s Restaurant near Stanton, and worked as a laborer at Midwest Shoe Co. and Pacer Industries in Union, Missouri. In 1988, she was hired as the first employee of Aerofil Technologies, where she remained until her retirement in 2013. In 2002, Darlene and Dennis moved to their final home on the Voss family place.
After retirement, she enjoyed volunteer work and involvement at the Bourbon Thrift Store.
She loved working in her garden, raising vegetables and canning the produce she grew. She also enjoyed landscaping around her home and tending to her flowers. Reading, thrifting and attending flea markets were among her favorite pastimes. Darlene was also an excellent cook.
In her retirement years, Darlene and Dennis enjoyed traveling out West.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Frances Voss; brother, Robert Voss; mother-in-law, Juanita Immekus; and siblings-in-law, Joan Bobbitt, Judy Eoff and Mark Immekus.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Lisa Volkmann and husband Jason of Bourbon, Missouri; granddaughter, Hailey Blankenship and husband Christopher of Sullivan, Missouri; sister-in-law, Janet Stigman and significant other Tony Anzalone of Jefferson City, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation gathering was held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, Missouri.
Cremation took place afterwards.
Private family inurnment held at Crow Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri.
