Don Ray Brenton Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on Feb. 9, 1931 in Hinch, Missouri to F. L. & M. Elinor (nee Harrison) Brenton and passed away, Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the age of 95 years.

He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska.

He married Jacqueline Barlow on June 5, 1951 in Arkansas.

He received his education from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, having earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in education.

Don dedicated 30 plus years to education both in teaching positions as well as serving as a principal and administrator.

He loved fishing, hunting and gigging on the Meramec. He was known for having many dogs as sidekicks, taking them for car rides around town to take care of errands. He also enjoyed gardening, tomato plants being his favorite to tend and grow.

Don had the "gift of gab" and could and would talk to anyone at length about anything. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you were in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, F.L. and Elinor Brenton; sister, Lillie Scott; brother, Vincent Brenton; and son, Mark Brenton.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” (nee Barlow) Brenton of Cuba, Missouri; two sons, Don (Sharon) Brenton Jr. of Lebanon, Missouri and John Paul Brenton of Cuba, Missouri; daughter, Lisa Brenton Telle of Cuba, Missouri; nieces, Lori Aman and Susan Scott of West Chester, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Ted (Randee) Barlows of Florida and Bob (Judy) Barlows of Kansas;  grandchildren, Lara (Mike) Hemby, Andy (Kathryn) Telle, Blake (Lauren) Brenton, Andrea (Chris) Brenton Jamieson, Brooke (Matt) Oursbourn and Morgan Brenton; great grandchildren, Sara, Adam, Alex and Nadia Hemby, Chloe (David) Lily, Karsyn Hodges Eva, Luke, Esther, Elise and Titus Brenton, Nora, Nolan, Nathan and Naomi Oursbourn, Daniel Brenton and Jamieson Hudson; great great grandchildren, Michayla, Delilah and Devon Hemby, Damon and Dean Lily and Malechai Kimker; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba, Missouri.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Mizell Funeral Home & Crematory in Cuba, Missouri.

Burial with military honors followed at Bourbon Cemetery in Bourbon, Missouri.
