Elizabeth “Liz” Rose (nee Newman) Carr of Yucaipa, California was born Oct. 26, 1937 in Wellston, Ohio to William Joseph Newman and Elizabeth Martha Bamer Newman and passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 at the age of 88 years and 5 days.
She married James “Jim” Rodney Carr on February 17, 1957 at Travis Air Force Base in California.
Liz served honorably in the Air Force from 1956-1957. She and Jim lived in California for a number of years, in Springfield, Missouri and back to his home in Steelville for a while. They later moved back to California to be nearer their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Newman; husband, Jim Carr; one brother, Joseph (Shirley) Newman; brothers-in-law, Frank Harned, Ray Brooks, Glen (Wanda) Carr, Kermit (Ellenor) Carr, Calvin “Chink” Carr, Ed Carr, Larry Garms and Ralph Luke; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Ted) Norris and Leota (Bob) Land.
She is survived by three sons, Mark (Penny) Carr and Peter Carr all of Yucaipa, California and Gary Carr of San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Frances Newman of Wellston, Ohio; three sisters, Rita Harned of Florida, Anna Marie (Bill) Brown of Idaho and Helen Brooks of Kansas; sisters-in-law, Carol Carr and Joyce Garms of Steelville, Missouri and Myrna Luke of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; four grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Father Mark Smith officiating.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Carr Cemetery in Cook Station, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Gary Carr, Mark Carr, Gene Garms, K K Carr and Amber Carr.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
