The January 6, 2026 Evening Star 4-H Club meeting was called to order by Peyton Bullock, followed by the pledges to the American and 4-H flags. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite seasons. Ronan Cahill read the minutes of the last meeting.

4-H members had been very busy throughout the holiday season. Peyton Bullock reported that several members had assisted the vendors at the PTO’s Winter Market, and the club provided lunch and snacks at the concession stand. Madison Kleinheider discussed the St. James Christmas Parade and the float the club sponsored. Club Leader Connie Laney talked about the club’s Christmas party. Olivia Edwards explained the ringing of the bell for the Salvation Army to collect funds for needs within the community.

Several projects have started their season. Aiden McBride and Eli Evans reported that the hiking project had met at Maramec Spring Park. They set goals for the year, assembled survival kits, and hiked the Leather Britches Trail.

Cheyenne Bogarts told that in the poultry project meeting they had butchered chickens. Olive Edwards described the November Clover Kids meeting, and Connor Bogarts described the December Clover Kids meeting. Both meetings were full of holiday crafts, games, and refreshments.

Jackson Evans reported on the bowling project meeting. Each member is growing in skills and improving scores. Cheyenne Bogarts told that the crochet meeting consisted of members learning new stitches and working on their projects. Riley Gibson learned how to service her sewing machine, thread the needle, and to use a new stitch in her sewing class.

In new business the club voted to donate $50 to the St. James Christian Church in appreciation for letting them use the building for the meetings.

The meeting ended with a spirited game of “Gossip.”

The February meeting will be held on Feb. 3, 2026. The club’s Valentine party will also be held after the meeting.
