The names of five people are on the January ballot for election of University of Missouri County Extension Council members in Crawford County. The new council begins its duties March 1, according to state law.
County residents 18 years or older are eligible to vote. Voting is conducted online on the county’s website during the election period of January 19-23 or by stopping by the Extension office. The website is https://extension.missouri.edu/counties/crawford
Residents can only vote for the district in which they reside. District I follows County Commission District I (northern portion of the county). District II follows County Commission District II (southern portion of the county). The candidates are: District I – Jay Coleman, Tammy Zuzack; District II – Ben Martin, Wayne Richter, Sarah Woods
University of Missouri Extension offers programs in Agriculture, Human Environmental Sciences, Business and Industry, Community Development, Youth Development (4-H) and various continuing education courses, seminars and workshops, including Fire and Rescue and Law Enforcement trainings statewide.
The County Extension Council work with University Extension staff members in planning and making recommendations for educational programs. Missouri State Statutes govern the roles and responsibilities of County Extension Councils. The Crawford County Council is composed of thirteen members. Ten are elected and three represent appointments by mayors or the council (if cities have less than 10,000 population) and general farm organizations having at least 25 members in the county.
