Even though the temperatures were a little high, with some rainfall on July 16, crowds still showed up for the 2026 Crawford County Fair.
The event began with the annual parade on July 14 on historic Route 66. Those who were able to watch in person or on the Cuba Free Press livestream saw a variety of floats, the Cuba Middle School and High School bands, classic vehicles and horses.
On July 15, the fair queen candidates performed in the talent competition on the Holiday Ranch Golf Club Stage. In the end, Haylee Williams was crowned as the 2026 Crawford County Fair Queen, with Mackenzie Mabe as the first runner-up and Mylee Lackey as the second runner-up. The children’s pageant and Amped Up Productions: Bull Riding and Barrel Racing were also that evening.
Due to some rainfall on July 16, the Prince and Princess Contest was moved inside the Exhibit Hall, and the start time for the Amped Up Productions: Bull Riding and Barrel Racing was pushed back. Freestyle motocross was a new event added this year, featuring daring tricks while jumping motorbikes. The youth pageant was held on the Holiday Ranch Golf Club Stage with youth ages seven through 16 competing for titles.
The 4-H Family Fun Day, cornhole tournament and Super Farmer Contest took place on Friday. The second annual crowing contest also took place Friday with contestants being judged on their crow, rooster dance and costume.
Despite the heat, there was a good turnout for the livestock shows and livestock auction, food vendors sold a variety of options for hungry attendees and the rides opened in the evenings.
Country music artist Chris Cagle provided the featured entertainment on the Holiday Ranch Golf Club Stage on Friday night, and Giovannie and the Hired Guns took the stage Saturday night.
