Filing for county, Cuba boards closed Tuesday

Filing period closed on Dec. 30 for Crawford County and Cuba board seats on the April 7, 2026, Municipal Election ballot.

Cuba mayor and Board of Aldermen have four open seats. Alderman Ward 2 Pitts Lesesne filed to run against incumbent Mayor Kevin Copling for the two-year term position. Declaring for the Alderman Ward 3 seat with a two-year term are incumbent Alderman Joyce Hartzell, Chris Newcome and Ciara Kitchen. Incumbents for Aldermen Ward 2 Harold Halbert, city collector Kim Roedemeier and city marshal Doug Shelton have refiled for their respective seats.

Crawford County 911 Emergency Services Board has three open seats. District 1 incumbent Thomas Mounce has filed to retain his four-year term seat, and District 2 incumbents William Harlan, with a four-year term seat, and Christina Barton, with a one-year term seat, have also filed for reelection.

Carl Lange filed for a six-year term Board of Directors seat at the Cuba Fire Protection District. Incumbent Bill Lange does not plan to refile.

North Crawford County Ambulance District has two seats open for election, currently held by incumbents Don Mizell of District 1 and Mike Delashmit of District 4.

Crawford County R-2 Board of Education has three, three-year term, seats open. Incumbents are Cheri Schuette, Tammi Palmer and Jennifer Moreland. 

Village of Leasburg and Village of St. Cloud couldn’t be contacted. 

Village of Leasburg has three seats open with two-year terms on their Board of Trustees. They are currently held by Carolyn “Sue” Prince, Shirley Williams and Linda Soules.

Village of St. Cloud has two seats open, each with a two-year term. Current trustees are Darrell Bosse and Sean Flowers.

Filing closed at the end of the business day on Tuesday, nine hours after the Cuba Free Press deadline. A full filing account will be listed in the Jan. 7, 2026, edition.
