Four members of the St. James High School boys’ basketball squad have been selected to the All-Four Rivers Conference Team, it was announced last week.
Tigers named to the All-FRC First Team are senior guard Tate Gruver and sophomore guard Isaac Smith. St. James players on the second team are senior guards Aiden Boone and Nick Gleason.
Boone was also named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Gruver, a 5-11 guard, set the STJ career scoring record this season and averaged 16.3 points, 2.2 assists, 2.1 steals and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 51% from the field, 42% from three-point range and made 64 three-pointers.
Smith averaged 10.4 points as point guard while also averaging 5.8 assists, 3.9 steals and 2.3 rebounds. He set single-season records in both assists and steals. In addition, he made 37 three-pointers.
Boone averaged 11.0 points, 3.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 56% from the field and 35% from three-point range.
Gleason averaged 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals, shooting 56% from the field and 30% from three-point range.
St. Clair sophomore Carson Roemer was selected FRC Player of the Year while St. Clair’s Landon Rulo was Sixth-Man of the Year. John VanLeer of league champion Union was Coach of the Year.
St. James finished tied for second in the FRC standings with a 5-2 record and went on to win the Missouri Class 4 District 3 Tournament.
