Francis Verhoff 1950-2026

Francis Henry “Fritz” Verhoff, 76, Westphalia, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born on May 9, 1950, to the late Zeno Conrad and Elizabeth Christine (Baumhoer) Verhoff in St. Louis.

He was a 1968 graduate of Fatima High School and later graduated from Linn Tech with an associate’s degree.

Fritz was united in marriage to Linda Loethen at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church  in  Jefferson City, on Sept. 17, 1977, recently celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary.

He owned and operated Fritz’s Auto Body Shop in Westphalia.

Fritz was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Sons of the American Legion.

He was an outdoorsman’s and enjoyed fishing, working in his big garden, raising chickens, butchering hogs and beef and drinking PBR and Stag Beer.

Fritz had a passion for stock car racing and drove his own car, and was a Nascar official for Capital Speedway. He was preceded in death by parents, Zeno and Elizabeth.

Fritz is survived by wife, Linda; sisters, Judy Tripp and husband Gary, Rosemary Heidbreder and husband Richard, Connie Boeckman and husband Steve and Mark Loethen and wife Laurie; special niece, Shelley Richter and husband Kevin; nieces; nephews; and lifelong friends, Doug and Alvin Bexten.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church inWestphalia, with the Rev. Dylan Schrader officiating.

Memorial contributions suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
