Gardeners of the Forest City (GFC) is holding its annual Plant and Bulb Sale this weekend to raise money for the club’s projects, which seek to beautify the city of St. James through horticulture.
Sales will be on Friday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to noon at the pickleball court building located at 110 W. Washington St.
Many plant varieties will be available at this year’s sale, including perennials, bulbs, house plants, grasses, annuals, shrubs, hostas, ground cover, native plants and trees.
There will be about 700 plants for sale at the event and a raffle for a double cedar planter.
GFC is a local service organization with over 20 members who work together to keep St. James looking beautiful. They maintain numerous planters and garden beds throughout the city, as well as decorate downtown for Christmas each year.
The group also sponsors a yearly $1,000 scholarship awarded to a St. James student pursuing horticulture or a related field.
The plant and bulb sale is one of the group’s largest annual fundraisers used to support these initiatives.
