The St. James John F. Hodge High School class of 1975 recently held their 50-year reunion with 36 class members returning for the weekend.
The weekend started Friday afternoon with Dr. Greg Harlan giving a tour of the high school with emphasis on the various renovations and additions to the school since the class graduated. That evening a bonfire, hosted by graduates Karen and Tom Luebert, was the setting where old friendships were renewed.
Saturday night a dinner was held at the Rosati Winery where a delicious buffet was provided by Country Bob's. Teresa Holt, mother of Country Bob's owner, was a graduate of the class. She was honored later in the evening for all her past efforts at previous class reunions. She was presented with a plaque and crowned reunion queen.
Graduates and their guests were greeted at the winery with live music by Strange Brew, a band from Bourbon, and a video montage of the high school years. Graduate Kerry Wynn provided an open bar for the evening. Yearbooks, pictures and newspapers from the 70s were on display and enjoyed by those in attendance. A video, prepared by Karen and Tom, memorialized the 19 students the class has already lost.
Graduates described a memory in writing to enter a raffle prize giveaway, and all of those memories were received with several rounds of laughter. Over 70 people shared dinner with classmates, coming from as far away as California and Florida. The evening ended with lots of hugs and hope for another weekend of fun together in five years.
