After a demanding day of 12 sets spanning throughout eight-plus hours on Sept. 20 at the Cuba Varsity Volleyball Tournament, the Lady Wildcats volleyball team returned to action on Sept. 22 against Linn.

Cuba seemed to feel the fatigue and fell 15-25 in the first set. The Lady Wildcats battled in the second set, but lost 25-23, before falling in the third set 25-19 to take the loss.

Cuba’s JV team won the first set 25-16, lost the second set 21-25, and finished strong in the third set, winning 25-22 to win the match.

The Lady Wildcats then traveled to Chamois on Sept. 25 to take on the Lady Pirates. Cuba rebounded with a dominant performance and swept Chamois in three sets. The Lady Wildcats controlled the match from the start and won convincingly 25-4 in the first set.

Cuba then went on to win 25-9 and 25-12 in the second and third sets to take the match with ease. The Lady Wildcats' 75-25 overall score in the match was its most lopsided victory of the season.

Cuba’s JV team didn’t compete in Chamois, but they did have a long day of action on Sept. 27 when they hosted the Cuba JV Volleyball Tournament. The four-team round robin tournament consisted of games against Bourbon, St. James and Viburnum.

The Lady Wildcats played with energy and enthusiasm throughout the morning and early afternoon, and took first place in the tournament after going undefeated against each school in six total matches.

The Lady Wildcats’ varsity and JV teams hosted St. James on Sept. 30, which will be detailed in next week’s paper. Cuba will host Steelville on Oct. 2 in their next match.
