The Lady Wildcats’ JV team began the evening with a 25-16 victory in the first set and a 25-9 dominant performance in the second set to win the match.

Cuba’s varsity team followed and also played well. The Lady Wildcats took the first set 25-22, dominated the second set 25-9 before falling in the third set 16-25. But Cuba responded in the fourth set and won 25-18 to earn the match victory.

Cuba then honored its seniors on Oct. 7 in between the JV and varsity games against Viburnum. Lady Wildcat seniors Emma Harris and Cailyn Hulsey received flowers, gift baskets and affection from their teammates and coaches prior to a strong performance against the Lady Blue Jays.

Cuba’s varsity won the first set handedly 25-14. The Lady Wildcats came out flat in the second set and found themselves facing an 11-0 deficit. Cuba head coach Makayla Coleman then brought in freshman Makayla Wells, who stabilized the Lady Wildcats’ back line and helped swing the momentum back to Cuba. The Lady Wildcats persevered and won the second set 25-23 before regaining their form in the third set, earning a 25-13 victory to win the match and extend its winning streak to five matches. Cuba’s JV team dominated both sets 25-8 and 25-6 in quick fashion to earn the victory.

The Lady Wildcats continued their winning ways when they traveled to Hillsboro on Oct. 9 to take on Grandview. Cuba’s JV team won 25-17 and 25-11 to win the match in straight sets.
